My Thoughts

WOW, just WOW. Why on earth have I put off reading this book so long! This book was enchanting, engaging, erupting with romance, and a perfect read to my beginning 2021! I was obsessed with everything from the characters, the book world, the clothes, the food, and the plot.

UGH IT WAS SO GOOD!!!! I sat and read the entire thing in a matter of hours and I have no regrets. I also broke my rule of buying only three books a month in order to get the final two books of the series! I also have no regrets about this either.

First of all, the characters were so intriguing! Enne was such a dynamic character, even though I found her to be just a tad annoying in the beginning. She was extremely judgemental and irritating when she first arrived in the City of Sin. However, as the book went on, I found her development to be amazing to watch and she really came into her own. I feel like she finally accepted who she was and not who she was expected to be. This girl learned the game and she learned it quickly.

I’m also extremely obsessed with Levi! He was just so sexy and fascinating that I probably drooled every time that he was mentioned. He was also such a dynamic character and a great way for readers to get to know more about the fantastic and magical world of the City of Sin! He and Enine’s chemistry was explosive and I was screaming at them to finally do it already. This will they won’t they romance drove me crazy in the best way!

This book world was also extremely amazing! This fantasy realm gave magical powers in a more of a genetic way than anything I have ever read. Their powers are given by their parents and they are more like skills rather than powers called blood talents. Their last names also indicate their talent which I thought was extremely interesting!

Based on the summary of the book, I was a little misled and thought that the entire book was going to be about the shadow game, but I was wrong. The game was the most suspenseful part of the book, but it only lasted like 50 pages. The majority of the book was an explanation of the book world and its characters. I truly enjoyed that and it made me so happy.

The only thing I was a little confused about was the mizers and how they fit into the book world and why they were so feared. Hopefully more will be explained in the next books. Thank god I broke my rule and bought them…. Haha!

This book was unlike anything I’ve ever read and I CANNOT wait to find out more about this amazing book world and its fascinating characters!
