Blood Money
Carmen lived life on the edge with no cares and no strings. Then her life takes a dark turn and her entire world turns upside down.
My Thoughts
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am so thankful to the Hatters Authors Services and the author for the opportunity! I was really looking forward to this read because I really liked the first book in the duet, but I found myself not connecting as much to these side characters as I did the original from the first installment.
In the beginning of the read, I was all in! I was in the moment the author connected the ending to the first installment with Carmen and we got to see the aftermath of it all. We also got some delicious steam in the beginning to get our revs going as well. However, the ending just did not match the amazing build up that this author provided to the plot.
We had a mysterious suitor named Stallion and he packed a steamy punch, buttttttt I really didn’t have the same connection with him as I did with Carter in the first book. I just felt like his story and his personality came in waves and his story wasn’t as clear as I wish it was. I just felt like there wasn’t enough time for me to connect with him. He also was very dark and sauve in the beginning and that all just went away. I mean, this is a dark romance… this hero should have been darker and he just felt flat..
To be completely honest… I was Team Bradley…. I really wanted Carmen and Bradley to work out and no one can tell you different…
The plot moved so so soooooo fast and there were so many things going on. I really loved Carmen and I really loved getting her point of view. I fell in love with her in the first installment and I was so excited to get to know her on a deeper level. I just wish she had gotten a better ending than the one she got. She deserves better. The climax also gave us a VERY interesting twist, but I found it just slightly predictable.
Overall, I found this read to be enjoyable, but I just wanted a little more from it.
