Book Review

Capturing the Devil

Summary

In the conclusion of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Audrey Rose and Thomas are in the United States for their final hunt for the killer they have been hunting for since the beginning. While on their mystery solving journey, they are starting to plan their happily ever after. Will they be able find their happy ending or will outside forces tear them apart?

My Thoughts

Ughhhhhhhh. I have so many emotions and feelings about this conclusion. It was honestly so perfect in every single way and I am so sad that the series is over. I consciously planned to read a book a month of the series so that I could savor it. It was that good that I didn’t want it to end. I also think it helped that this series didn’t really do cliffhangers, each book had a mystery that would be solved at the end. Therefore, I wasn’t really screaming to finish because I needed to know what happens next, but I continued purely because I loved the characters and the writing.

This installment has to be my favorite of the series. Everything I was a little annoyed with (ummmm lack of steam and unnecessary love triangles) from the other installments were not present in this book. It was purely a heart pumping mystery and so many adorable and steamy scenes with Audrey and Thomas.

The first 100 pages were SO ADORABLE! Omg Thomas is like a fine ass wine, he just gets better over time and this book REALLY acknowledges that fact. However, there was a snag (I’m not going to say what because spoilers) and it ROCKED MY WORLD! I was DEVASTATED and so angry for a minute there oooooooooo boy! The push and pull of their relationship ripped out my soul and then pushed it back in, multiple TIMES! Thomas really annoyed me for a minute there which I didn’t think could happen, but all relationships have their bumps and I guess it was time for me and Thomas to have a little squabble…. ALSO MAJOR STEAM ALERT HERE! I mean it’s steamy to Victorian era standards, but I will take what I can get and run with it. It wasn’t everything I wanted, but I’m a smut skank and I am always going to want more than I am given.

The mystery in this book was so intriguing and took me back to the very beginning of this series! I loved it! The final chapters of the book were so suspenseful and I was freaking out the entire time! I mean to be actually in that place was insane and gave me so many nightmares! The killer is also one of my FAVORITE serial killers of all time, I mean that makes me a terribly morbid, but I honestly don’t care. He makes such an excellent villain and I WAS OBSESSED!

This book made me squeal, made me cry, made me laugh, and made me just so emotional. Ugh it was so amazing and such a perfect way to end one of my favorite series.
