Book Review

Clown in a Cornfield

Quinn Maybrook and her father have moved to a small town in the midwest for a fresh start. However, the town mascot may have a more sinister side to it than she ever could have imagined and this town may not be as quiet as she thought….

My Thoughts

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG this read was so better than I thought it was going to be.

It gave me alllll the Halloween vibes I’ve been wanting to have this month and a plot that went beyond horror. This book was like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Children of the Corn characters dressed up in clown outfits and it was brilliant, beautifully awful, and non stop craziness. It was perfection for the tiny demon horror lover in me and I encourage all the peoples to pick up this amazing book this Halloween season.

I was fricken HOOKED from the very beginning of this read and this author kept me there until the very last page! WHAT A BOOK! It was so much better than I expected and I am honestly still shook on how good it was.

Based on the summary of the book, I wasn’t expecting it to be anything truly amazing. I was expecting a 70s slasher film at best with predictability and maybe a little creep factor here and there…. I WAS HORRIBLY WRONG…this author has the depth of Stephen King and the slasher factor of Rob Zombie…. I was cheering for kills and equally horrified of them at the same time….. OOOOO MY SCARY MOVIE LOVER HEART WAS SOOOOO HAPPY….. I didn’t want it to end!!!

This small town was full of unpredictable and complex characters that told such a different story from the one I had been anticipating and I WAS SO SHOCKED. All of the characters had backstories that were fully realized and added such a deepness to the plot that drew me in sooooooo fast. These characters were also VERY mysterious so you really didn’t insta-like any of them…including the main character. The author did such a great job with this because it would NOT have been the same story if the characters were out in the open about their feelings. He has become one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to see what other book he has in store.

I don’t really want to say anything else about this read because you just need to be as surprised and mystified as I was…. Once you read it, message me and we will discuss….
