My Thoughts

So this series took such a dramatic and interesting turn during the sequel that I was so excited for this book and what would happen. It took so long (in my opinion because I am impatient) for the book to come out and when it did I was so excited. This book was a wonderful read and I was so happy to read it and with a lot of things that happened, but it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. This book was such a suspenseful, thrilling, and action packed adventure, that I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!!!

I was sort of disappointed with the beginning of this book because I felt like the author missed a golden opportunity to appease her loyal and raving fans because the part she started the book was so depressing! I just wished that the author had started right where the last book ended. That was such a powerful and intense moment at the end of the second book that I felt so jipped that the readers missed the reactions of Hudson’s out of nowhere statement. I just felt like I missed something amazing and it left me with a missing piece.

Although I was super disappointed with the beginning of this read, there were so many great things about it too. First, I loved the new creatures we got to meet throughout the book and new cultures and settings we got to explore through Grace’s eyes. The giant world was so cool and I thought their traditions and their world was so interesting and such a fun and new aspect to the book world.

I also was entranced by the book world and the Dragon Hoard celebration. OMG IT WAS SO MAGICAL!!! I wanted to be a guest so bad and I loved how vivid and detailed the author went with describing this event. I also loved the journey that it took our characters. Also, the prison WAS SO COOL. Yes, it was a prison and I would never want to go there, but i thought the setting was very creative and I loved reading about it. I also loved the characters we got to meet there, especially REMY. Because hello hotness, I needed more Cajun men in my life. That accent, BE STILL MY HEART!!!

So I was also very frustrated with the characters in this book. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and I will continue to love them in the next book, but OMG THEY MADE ME ANGRY!!!! First of all Grace was being so stupid in this book and I wanted to go into the book and shake her a couple of times. SHE WAS SO FRUSTRATING. She came into her own with her gargoyle powers eventually, but where her love life was concerned, I wanted to smack her. However, she finally gave me what I wanted in the end so I’m not mad at her anymore. Hudson was gorgeous and cute and amazing and he could do no wrong, but OMG HE WAS FRUSTRATING TOO! I just could handle all the self sacrificing and the back and forth made me absolutely crazy and made me want to pull all my hair out. This book had some steamy and sexy scenes in it, thank GOD, but it was a little too PG for me. I just had to keep reminding myself that it is YA and you can’t always get what you want.

The ending, like always came way too soon, and left me with more questions and a desperate need for the next book. I am going to be miserable until September, but I will be okay.
