Dragon by Midnight

My Thoughts

I am so grateful to the Book of Matches Media and the author for this ARC! This read was such a cute and fun take on a classic story and the romance was just adorable!

This retelling combines features from both the classic stories of Aladdin and Cinderella and it was just so genius. I love these stories so much and the idea of them together was just so fun! I never would have guessed that these classics would work so well together, but it did and it was so fun. However, this story did not just take these stories and repeat what the past has given us, it takes them and twists them into something new and fresh and I was sooooo here for it, especially that Cinderella twist….. That was not what I expected even though the title was sort of a hint… I still didn’t get it haha!

The plot was really fast paced and kept you guessing throughout the whole book. The timeline went back and forth with the past and present lives of these characters which wasn’t my favorite. Since the story was so fast paced and full of action, I found myself getting a little irritated when I had to go back to the past. I wanted to know what was happening in the present; however, that was just me and my pettiness and it wasn’t that bad. I just needed to know what was happening next because the story was so good!

Oh and girl did it make me hungrier than a bear! Boy did that dragon eat anything and everything and I related to the character so much. I felt the whole Hobbit vibes with breakfast and second breakfast and early lunch and afternoon tea and dinner and supper. I loved that little addition.

The concept was fun, the plot was great, and the characters were so adorable! Cinderella was very sweet and fun! I mean it took me a minute to get into her character because she could come just a little whiny and a little too prissy sometimes. However, she became a badass princess with some sass and power to back it up so I was here for it! I also loved Sikandar. He was just so sweet and adorable and I didn’t know whether to hug him or to kiss him. Him and Cinderella were just so cute together and their happy ending was everything!

Overall, this read was such a sweet and fun take on two classics and I enjoyed the crud out of it!
