Echoes of Silence
A dull-eyed girl, broken and alone,
living in a world drenched in violence.
Her story begins with bloodline sins,
and no one to save her from the echoes of silence.
Wren
I haven’t spoken in four years. Not a scream, not a cry, not a whimper. I learned a long time ago—the punishment for speaking out against my tormentors isn’t a price I’m willing to pay.
Not again.
Forged in darkness and controlled in silence, I was caged for other’s twisted perversions. It wasn’t until four dark knights swooped in and sliced through the ropes binding me that I was finally free. They were supposed to be my saviors, but I was wrong. So. Incredibly. Wrong. The men who purchased me from my father are monsters—worse than those who haunt the shadows of my past.
At first, they whispered sweet promises of freedom, but now they say I’m theirs to keep. To own. I’m nothing more than a prisoner once again. Only this time, I might not need saving. Especially when their brand of darkness soothes the shattered pieces of my poisoned soul, and sets my desire for vengeance ablaze.
My Thoughts
I’m so grateful to get a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I fell in love with this author from her Tainted by Ruin series and I was desperate to get a copy of her newest Dark RH Romance series! This book was such a beautiful story and I can’t wait to continue the series!
Wren is such a wonderful and strong FMC and I loved watching her grow into a fierce and even stronger character as the story went on. She has such a special place in my heart and I want her to get her HEA so freaking bad because she really deserves it. She is just so damn sweet and thoughtful that it’s hard not to love her!
Wren is bought by a group of men that she thinks are just like every other man that has abused and hurt her. But, they turn out to be men that help women like her from meeting a terrible fate. However, I really enjoyed how much she doesn’t trust them at first because it not only added funny banter and fierceness to the FMC, but it also made the storyline a little more believable than some dark romances out there.
I know this is supposed to be a retelling of the Ugly Duckling…. But I didn’t get that vibe at all… maybe I’m missing something… she wasn’t ugly in her childhood from what I can gather…. Maybe because she was abused as a child; however, I still didn’t see the connection.. Also, her name is Wren like the bird so that MIGHT be it… still don’t really see it hahaha
….Don’t really care because the book is great and I’m all in, but I still want to know why the author connected it to the classic story.
SO although I LOVED the FMC and I like where the story is going…. SOME of the boys kinda bugged me and not in a hot way.
Kodiak can take a long vacation and leave Nix and Hush for Wren to enjoy. He was just confusing and not in a sexy way at all. The whiplash is not an attractive look Mr. Angry Bear…. sorry not sorry. I also found Havoc to be just slightly annoying…. I could only handle him in small doses…. He just seemed very ON all the time and I couldn’t get into it.
HOWEVER…. HUSH AND NIX CAN GET IT!!!!!
I can’t wait for the next book because that cliffhanger made me happy and sad at the same time!
(EAT CRUD KODIAK!)
