Empress of a Thousand Skies

My Thoughts
I found this book when I was scrolling through Amazon one day and I just had to have it. The summary sounded amazing and that cover is top notch. Although I did enjoy the book world, I found myself liking some characters more than others.
The book is told through two perspectives, Rhee, the crown princess, and Alyosha, a war refugee and soldier. I fell in love for Rhee in the first chapter and I just thought her story line was so interesting. Alyosha also added an interesting perspective and I liked it, I just liked Rhee more and started to not really care about Alyosha and his problems. The author also had mini cliffhangers at the end of each chapter and it made it really hard for me to pay attention to the other perspective because I wanted to know more about the previous one. It happened a lot more with Rhee than with Alyosha soooo hence why I liked her more.
Rhee is such a badass, but she makes me want to scream sometimes because she doesn’t really think things through. She just creates her own issues and it is so cringey to read sometimes. However, I just feel so sorry for her and I want her to get a happy ending whatever that will be.
I found the book world to be extremely interesting, but I need to know more! I’m hoping the next book provides more information and better understanding. That ending was killer though!
Blood of a Thousand Stars

My Thoughts:
So I was hoping this book series would get better, the book world would be better explained, and I would bond with more of the characters…. This didn’t happen and I am actually quite angry at what did occur. I mean what the actual heck? I’m actually angry enough to spit. I feel like the author just abandoned Rhee, her main character, and replaced her with her sister and I just can’t handle it.
Kara is my least favorite character. She is a coward, a brat, and probably the worst sister ever. I don’t care about her in the least or her stupid relationship with Aly. Her point of view was a VERY unwelcome addition to the sequel for me and I don’t care how petty this makes me. I already bonded with Rhee, I felt like I was cheating on her when I was reading Kara’s chapters. I felt like Rhee was honestly jipped in all ways possible and I AM NOT OKAY!!!!
Rhee did EVERYTHING she could and I just felt like everyone and everything was against her. It was almost like she was the anti-hero and she didn’t do anything wrong. It all just made me so angry and this book and its author killed all my hopes and dreams for the series. That epilogue was honestly a joke and I would rather block it out.
Overall, this book was not AT ALL what I wanted and I don’t understand why the author did this to me….
