Fugitive Review

Summary
Kevlar was a cop, but gave up his life for his wife and turned into a biker. She’s been dead for three years and he’s lost and on the run. When he meets Jovie, he thinks he might have his life back, but she has some secrets that might bring them all down.
My Thoughts
I received this book as an ARC and I am so grateful for the chance I have to read it and provide an honest review to the author. This book was definitely a thrilling ride filled with some steamy and sweet moments. I also love MC romances and although there were a lot of elements I liked about this book, there were some things I didn’t like.
I’ll start with the things I liked. I loved Kevlar and the dedication that he showed towards his club, his family, and his children. He is obviously a bad ass guy being in a prominent and scary biker club, but he is not only strong on the outside, but also on the inside. He went through such an internal struggle with the loss of his wife, the reason he ever got involved with the club and that is a ROUGH thing to go through. I thought the author did a fantastic job developing his journey from grieving her loss to moving on with his life. He is also a fantastic dad and his children were just adorable. The moments he had with them were so sweet and brought tears to my eyes.
I thought the romance between Jovie and Kevlar was very sweet. I mean maybe a little too sweet for an MC romance, but I very much enjoyed reading it. Jovie was such a strong person in the relationship and I don’t know how she could have had that much patience. Kevlar kept going back and forth with her and I don’t know how she didn’t want to pull her hair out all the time.
That being said, I had some things that made me a little disappointed too. Kevlar was clearly the main character of the book, but Jovie did not get as much screen time as I think she deserved. We basically didn’t get any of her back story at all! It was just she met him and then boom, she is the main character. I wish we had gotten to know her before she met Kevlar just to understand her a bit better. There were also some scenes where Jovie’s personality would change and she would show these bits of aggression that I thought were just a little outrageous for her character. I also didn’t really understand the dynamics of her family and how that worked out in the overall plot.
Overall, the book was a fun read and I am so grateful that the author let me read it.
