Heart of a Witch
Hidden in a kingdom that hates witches, I’m forced to hide what I am. With my sister working in a secret dark magic club, and our family’s shop gaining unwanted attention, things couldn’t be worse when the notorious witch hunter, Damian Shaw, comes to town.
My Thoughts
Thank you so much to Books of Match Media and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! This book was full of dark magic, lust and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end!
“I’d never particularly liked humans, but I’d never wanted to kill one. Until now.”
How can you not be captivated already by that amazing tagline!
This book took me on a magical and haunting journey from the very beginning and wouldn’t let me go until the very last page. I loved every SINGLE character and I honestly just want more DAMN IT! This magical world is full of angst, turmoil, and so much amazing magic that I was so happy to be transported there and to escape the brutal world for a while. I loved the mixture of magic with the potions of an apothecary. The rituals were so fascinating and I loved reading about Victoria performing them…. Perfect darkness to add to my Christmas holiday!
The plot was also CRAZY! There were so many unexpected twists and turns and BOY did it get darker and lustier than I was expecting. Victoria is a BRUTAL badass and I LOVED her! She went so dark and vengeful at some parts and I was so here for it!
Also…. she has two snakes as pets….. These are WITCHY GOALS if I ever saw them. Like how more badass can a fantasy character get?!? Oh and did I mention that they were poisonous and used them to joke with people…. Yes, Victoria is amazing.
Elijah gave me major Reid from Serpent and Dove vibes. I haven’t finished the Serpent and Dove series, but from the sequel in the series, I am very upset with Reid sometimes and I felt the same with Elijah… He was presented as a dark and steamy club owner and then that vibe kind of disappeared in the middle and it was sort of disappointing. He could be a whiny baby as well sometimes and it was kind of a turn off…. Victoria deserved someone just a little more badass…..
Overall, I REALLY enjoyed this book and cannot wait for more books in this series!
