House of Sky and Breath

Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar are trying to get back to normal―they may have saved Crescent City, but with so much upheaval in their lives lately, they mostly want a chance to relax. Slow down. Figure out what the future holds.

The Asteri have kept their word so far, leaving Bryce and Hunt alone. But with the rebels chipping away at the Asteri’s power, the threat the rulers pose is growing. As Bryce, Hunt, and their friends get pulled into the rebels’ plans, the choice becomes clear: stay silent while others are oppressed, or fight for what’s right. And they’ve never been very good at staying silent.

My Thoughts

Soooooo I’m still in awe and shock and I honestly don’t know what to do with myself. This book gave me the biggest book hangover of the year so far and I honestly haven’t recovered…

It’s been a week and my mind is still bits of plasma all over my bedroom walls.

After finishing this book I had two main thoughts:

  1. WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!?
  2. OMG THAT WAS A LOT OF STUFF TO REMEMBER!

So many crazy things happened in this book and I don’t know how to feel about it. I feel like this series packs so many things into one book and you have to have a photographic memory to know everything. I mean I thought TOG was a lot, but that series has NOTHING on this book. I

I mean, it’s not necessarily a bad thing, but if you are looking for a fantasy series that is easy breezy, this is NOT the one for you. This series has so many characters and SO MANY THINGS going on at the same time, that you need to pay EXTREME attention because things come back and haunt you later.

There are so many amazing things about this book that I love, but my top three were definitely:

  1. The Smut… FREAKING FINALLY MAN!
  2. The Battles…. OMG THERE WERE SO MANY GOOD ONES. IT WAS CRAZY!
  3. The Banter…. OMG I peed my pants laughing.

Bryce Quinlan continues to be such a delight with her hilarious give no shits attitude and her badass skills. I don’t know if I want to be her when I grow up or if I have the biggest girl crush on her…. She is just so amazing. Bryce has to be in my top favorite FMCs of all time, I’m freaking obsessed with her haha

My second favorite character has to be her brother, Ruhn Danaan…. OMG BE STILL MY HEART…. He hits all my favorite boxes and this book just made me love him so much more….

I mean he:

  1. Has tattoos all over his body… YUM
  2. Has a lip ring…. DOUBLE YUM
  3. Has a group of hot friends…. SIGN ME UP
  4. Is a Fae Prince… MY WEAKNESS..

Hunt has become a backup boyfriend for me after this book and Ruhn Danaan has taken center stage.

This ending also is a whole other topic for discussion… I MEAN WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL!?! I needed to read the last 60 pages twice to fully comprehend what happened and I’m still confused… This book is going to be a reread in my future and I will take notes this time….

Overall, I’m heartbroken, shocked, disturbed and in need of the next installment immediately.

Thanks SJM, you have sent me into Maas Destruction yet again… keep up the good work!
