Hunting Prince Dracula Review

Summary

However, they are studying at the haunted castle that once Vlad the Impaler called home and there have been some strange murders in the town that have convinced the townspeople that he is back! My Thoughts
This series is like a fine wine, it just gets better and better as the story goes on! I liked the first one of the series ALOT, but this one blows the first book out of the water! One of my favorite books is Dracula so I was loving all the creepy Romania vibes! I want to go there someday and this book and its amazing setting just convinced me to go sooner rather than later (Stupid COVID!)
After the fall out of the first book, Audrey Rose is grieving and is generally creeped out by something that used to make her happy. It was so hard to read about her struggle. I can’t imagine what that poor girl was going through and I thought everyone should have given her a little more of a break. However, she kind of brought it on herself because she didn’t really let herself deal with it and pushed everyone away that asked her to. But, Thomas should have known better because the girl is feisty and supposedly that’s what he loves about her. Oh well, boys are stupid sometimes, but he figured it out in the end.
The romance in this novel is definitely a slow burn and IT IS KILLING ME!!! I mean it’s like watching two sharks circle each other around a school of fish. DO SOMETHING ALREADY. I mean the author did give us something, but it was like the small crumb that the Grinch allows the mouse to have in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It was barely anything and I wanted more more more!!! Their banter is AMAZING and it makes me laugh out loud constantly, but they need to get over themselves and do something about their tension because this kettle is going to burst, hard!
The mystery aspect of this novel was so so so FUN! It was like the movie of Clue and Nancy Drew in one exciting read. I pictured Audrey Rose as very similar to Nancy Drew because wherever she goes, mysteries follow her. However, her boyfriend and sidekick is much less annoying than the ones in Nancy Drew. I also got such a Clue vibe from this book as well because it was definitely a, “Who Dun it?” However, much more creepy, but the characters just fit the characters in Clue. Their hairbrained professor reminded me of Professor Plum and Anastasia was definitely a Miss Scarlet. I just loved it.
Lastly, why must there be spiders in all second books or sequels? I mean Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and the second season of Mandalorian all have spiders! UGH SO CREEPY! However, it was perfect for the creepy elements of this book.
