In Peace Lies Havoc Review

Summary

Dove Hendry has had a very dark life and her only salvation is through dance. One day she was kidnapped and recruited into the Midnight Mayhem. A dark circus like dance trope where the Brothers of Kiznitch are the main attraction. When she joins their crew, her dark past starts to come back to her and her life is much different than she remembered.

My Thoughts

HOLY HOTNESS! This book was a steamy, sexy, and eccentric read that I was never expecting. I loved this amazing whirlwind of a book for so many amazing reasons and I am so sad that it is over. This standalone should have been a little longer and just a little better explained.

I WAS STUNNED BY HOW AMAZING THIS BOOK IDEA WAS. I mean a sexy and steamy circus, why hasn’t anyone done this before?!?! I mean, I’m sure it’s been done, but I haven’t read that yet. I honestly have never thought of this idea, but now that it was here and available, I was SO here for it!

The book world of this book was extremely amazing! I was so fascinated by all the costumes, the ambience, the sexy darkness and the mystery, but I felt that sometimes there was just a little too much mystery. The main character was very similar to Alice where she had no idea what was going on, but everywhere around her knew and was irritatingly keeping it from her at every turn. Dove, the main character was no Alice so it could get annoying. She has already gone through enough crap in her life, why can’t the characters tell her like it is. This was not a world like Wonderland so I wish the author had taken the time to explain the world of Midnight Mayhem a little bit more.

The pace of the book was a little weird for me as well. There was just so much back and forth throughout the book and at the very end everything exploded and then it was over. I was checking the page numbers on my kindle to just double check that book was actually over. I almost felt jipped! I wanted more from the characters and this wonderfully created book world.

The dance scenes and the description of the stage acts were just amazing. I was completely captivated and could picture them so perfectly. It was almost like magic and I was so in love with it. Ugh! They were such beautifully written scenes and I just wished that there were more of them. The author also included a buttload of music that I just had to add to my Spotify. I wish there had been a playlist at the back of the book because I doubt I got all the music mentioned.

The characters in this book were amazing! I just loved all of them and I couldn’t be happier to spend hours reading about them. I found Dove to be an amazing main character and I was captivated by her thoughts and her story. I wanted more details about her background, but I was completely satisfied with what I got in the end. I LOVED Kingston, omg new book boyfriend alert!!! Their scenes were extremely explosive and so steamy that I still have steam blowing out of my ears. The book was told in multiple perspectives between Kingston and Dove, but I felt that Kingston’s chapters were so short. It was a snack, but I wanted more of a decadent dessert.

Overall, this book was such a steamy and wonderfully captivating and I can’t wait to read the other books of the series!
