Book Review

Jinxed

In the woods, there’s a house they say is haunted. Once you enter, you can never leave. In this house, your biggest dreams can become reality, and your worst vices can become dangerous addictions. Would you risk it?

When Savannah Miles comes into a sum of money, she decides to follow her life long dream and open her own thrift shop. The sweet looking house in the woods seems like the perfect place.

Except the house is filled with mystery, and three handsome men who have been stuck inside for decades. Felix, the original owner of the house, trapped for over a century. Luther, the 40-something postman whose search for the meaning of life led him to be stuck in the house since the 70’s. And Theo, whose string of bad luck left him in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Different times. Different vices. Different lives. Can the four of them work together in life and love to find a way to survive?

My Thoughts

The idea of this book was soooooo interesting and I could not WAIT to read it. I mean who would not love a creepy house that you can’t leave and in turn are stuck with three hot men from different time periods…

However, the book was just okay. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it, it was just meh. I think what really disappointed me was the amazing idea of this book was not well executed.

First, I wanted more from the house. I wanted crazy things to happen and more details about why it was creepy. But in the end, the house was just a house and I was was disappointed.

The curse itself regarding Felix was also was not well explained and then it was just gone. Again, I wanted more.

Let’s be honest. The smut was great, but if you’re going to promise this kind of plot and then just have tid bits of information between long smutty scenes…. just stick to the smut please. This author had the smut down, but everything was sort of lacking.

The characters were also kind of meh. They just kind of, BOOM, starting having relations and then would have some pillow talk in between. I felt like we could have gotten to know them more before they all started doing the D.

I feel like the theme of this review is I just want more.

All in all, it was an interesting read and I don’t regret reading it, but I’m a greedy greedy reader eater and I want more please!
