Obsidio Review

Summary
In the final installment of the Illuminae Files, Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik find themselves crammed into a container ship and only see returning to Kerenza as an option to stay alive. While on Kerenza, Asha Grant is struggling with the invasion of the BioTech assault and soon discovers that a blast from her past is on the other side.
My Thoughts
HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE!!!! THIS BOOK WAS INSANE! I mean all the books of this series have been insane, but the third installment was a major thrill ride and I was on the edge of my blanket and book pillow the entire time! I finished the book in four hours and stayed up three hours past my bedtime. I love sleep so you know if I stayed up reading, it has GOT TO BE GOOD!
First of all, all my favorite characters are smooshed in a ship together and I get equal time with all of them! Yes, the author introduced a small cast of new characters, but I feel like the authors spent equal time with the new characters and the old characters. I honestly don’t know which character I loved more, but AIDAN probably was my favorite, HANDS DOWN! He is such an enigma and so entertaining that I found myself wishing that he was in EVERY SINGLE PAGE! (I’m sorry that I’m shouting, but this book made me so excited!)
I loved the new dynamic that adding Asha and Rhys to also allowed us to see the background of the aftermath of the planet Kerenza. It was really awesome that the trilogy came full circle and ended where everything started. It was like it wrapped a bow around the trilogy and made it a very cute Christmas present for me from the authors. They are so thoughtful. The only thing I had a little problems with is that Asha and Rhys’s romance fell a little flat for me. I mean I understood that they had history and they actually still had feelings for each other, but there was no build up which I was expecting and missing.
Kady and Erza seemed to be the star romance of the book because there was a lot more dialogue and events happening with them, but I actually was more interested in the dynamic between Kady and AIDAN. Yes, I know he is a machine and not a human and is incapable of human sexuality and emotions; HOWEVER, as a book lover, I am used to loving fictional characters that don’t exist and have no possibility of loving you back, so BITE ME! AIDAN IS THE MAN AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE! (Sorry for the shouting again, I can’t help it.)
The book also took so many turns that I would get whiplash and at one point my jaw dropped so far and so many times that it started to ache. These authors were so rude in the best way and I don’t know whether to yell at them in anger or excitement at this point. There would be so many moments where my heart would drop and then be repaired in a couple characters after and I would take a HUGE sigh of relief. These characters are so badass and beautiful that they will always have a special place in my heart. Kady for her strength, Hanna for her perseverance, Ella for her sarcasm, AIDAN for his ability to make me think deeply, Ezra for his beautiful love, Nik for his bad boy nature, Asha for her caring nature, and Rhys for his belief in people. Ugh I’m getting teary eyed just thinking about the fact this series is over.
Overall, this book was an emotional space ride of emotions that I will never forget. I will miss the very unique structure and characters that this book has introduced me to and I am always thankful and a little hateful to these authors for giving me so many heart attacks. If you haven’t read this series, PICK IT UP NOW!
