My Thoughts

Wow, this took the idea of You and took it to a whole new level!!! Wow, what the actual f**k?!?! This book took me to so many insane places that I’m actually questioning my sanity to this day. From the synopsis of the book, I thought it would be your typical stalker thriller. It was not, it was so much more than that.

This takes an unreliable narrator to a completely different level. This guy IS DELUSIONAL and mentally unstable, but I completely fell for it and feel so ashamed about it. I mean he did the typical stalker things that are not okay and it all made me cringe, but this guy is just so messed up! He had such an awful childhood that made me want to throw up and almost made it all seem like it was bound to happen. I said almost because this behavior is never okay, but again, I began to question everything and it made me so angry.

The relationship between him and Verity was just awful. I mean they both were terrible to each other in various ways. This and the way he saw things, it made me almost question if she was an actual victim and then I felt bad because it almost seemed like victim blaming. OMG THIS AUTHOR TWISTED ME UP INSIDE! I am still very clearly confused on how to feel about this reality. The trial reminded me of Emily Doe’s a little bit which made me extremely angry, but I went back and forth about it until I finished it.

The writing of the book also threw me off the scent of the truth. The timeline was all over the place and it almost made the story seem choppy, but I understand why the author did this. SHE WANTED TO DRIVE ME INSANE! I wanted to stop reading so many times, but this book was like a train wreck, I just couldn’t stop watching!! I mean not much happened for a while in the beginning and then it just took a turn and just didn’t STOP!

The ending left me in such a weird and confused place that I honestly don’t know who is right and who is guilty and I wanted to take a nap.
