My Thoughts

So as a lover of Alice and Wonderland, I had high hopes for this retelling and it really did me wrong. I was honestly shocked on the way this read turned out and I was sort of disappointed with what occurred.
In comparison to this amazingly blood thirsty, ruthlessness and, brutality of this book world, the characters just seemed extremely childish to me. All the characters were extremely whiny and did not meet my expectations. Dinah seemed more like the door mouse in the cup at the Tea Party than the Red Queen. Ugh the whine of this girl was so annoying and so real. I also felt that with all that the author tried to make her father seem as though he was a ruthless character, he just sounded like a brute that made no sense. The only character I really liked was Charles and he was in the book for only 10 minutes.
The plot of the book went by really slow and we honestly didn’t get any action until about 70% in the book. The ending was also a WHAT kind of thing and since it left me with so many questions that I just have to move on. I’m hoping that the next one makes the characters better and the book world make a little more sense.

So I continued on with this series and thank god because this sequel was definitely a hail mary if there ever was one. Holy molie was this so much better than I expected and so much better than the first of the series.
This book was so full of vengeance, power, intrigue, and the characters started to really grow on me! Dinah was such an annoying character in the beginning, but in this book, she really got her shit together and started taking names. I mean what a turn and thank god it was for the better and not for the worse. This girl grew into such a powerhouse and it was AWESOME! I also really liked Cheshire in this book. He represented a twist that I NEVER SAW COMING!
The Yureki were such an interesting element to the plot as well. Their culture and customs were so cool! It gave the world of Wonderland such a unique twist and I was obsessed with it. The only snag of this sequel was the character of Wardley. OMG that guy died in a hole. He is literally the worst. I dislike him so much.
The ending of this sequel broke my soul into a million pieces and I need to read the next book so I can see her get her vengeance.

DAMN THAT SHIT WAS DOPE! This finale was a gorgeous ending to a fascinating series! Even though it started very rocky, the series ended with a great bang that satisfied all my desires for an Alice in Wonderland telling.
The battle that has been brewing since the ending of the first book finally happened and it WAS EPIC! The battle was so amazing and expertly written. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The only issue I had was that it ended too soon which is weird because I have had my issues with battle scenes being super bored.
I grew to really bond with the characters in this book and I was so happy to see them well developed and amazing, except Wardley. He CAN GO DIE IN A HOLE. He was a terrible friend and person the entire series. UGH I HATED HIM!!! If I was playing a game of Kiss, Marry, Kill, I would choose him to kill. Dinah just got better and better as the book went on and I was amazed on how mature and captivating she became. However, there was one scene in the book that killed me. Dinah did something that a character should not have come back from, but it was really Wardley’s fault so I guess I forgive her. (OH I HATE THAT JERK!)
The politics in this book were just INSANE! Holy crap, so many twists and turns that it made Game of Thrones look tame.
The only thing about the book I did not care for was the ending. The last book had such a heartbreaking ending and this book did not heal that wound. I mean it may be a happy ending for some, IT WAS NOT FOR ME! She honestly deserved so much better.
