My Thoughts

Thank you so much to the Hatters Author Services and the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! This love story was a sweet and thrilling ride that made my heart break and my heart sing at the same time!

This story was a very fast and heartbreaking read that takes the friends to lovers trope to a whole other level. Usually this trope tends to have a very sweet story with some laughs here or there, but the author takes a very emotional and traumatic approach to it and adds an uniqueness that broke my heart, but added such a depth to the characters and their true love for each other.

The story begins when Raelynn moves to a new small town and is being bullied at school for being a rich girl and they assumed she was a snob. Her new and gross stepfather is also her principal which adds another layer for her classmates to bully her about. Lawson acts like her knight in shining honor and befriends her. Their friendship blossoms into a sweet and the cutest romance, but it soon turns dark when Raelynn’s stepfather decides he wants Rae for himself. This idea added such a suspenseful element to a sweet love story. The author hooked me in with the sweet story and kept me reading with the creepy twist and the twists that just kept on coming.

The main characters, Lawson and Rae were soooo adorable and I just was so obsessed with them. Although they went through such struggles to be together, some a little too real, they found a way to be together and it made my heart so happy. I loved reading each of their perspectives and I’m glad we got both of them because the story probably wouldn’t have worked with only one of them. I also loved who Rae’s best friend turned out to be because it was such a nice twist on the usual mean girl trying to break apart the relationship. It was nice to finally not have that jealous girl ruining the relationship storyline.

The ending was something that I did NOT expect at all and I loved it. I wish their had been a little more steam, but the amount we got actually made sense for their sweet and cute romance.

Overall, this romance was such a wonderful and loveable story that any reader that loves the friends to lovers should pick up soon!
