Scoring Beauty
Ryan has given up on finding love and has decided to put all his time and attention into being the Captain of his hockey team. But, when he literally runs into the woman of his dreams, that plan flies out the window.
My Thoughts
Thank you so much to the Hatters Author Services and the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! This read was such a fun romance and I thoroughly enjoyed the laughs and puns that made this romance so unique.
So this book is the sixth book in the BTU Alumni series by the lovely Alley Ciz. I loved this author and her duology, The Royalty Crew, so I jumped at the chance to read more of her work and she did not disappoint. Although I had a few issues with the world that this romance took place in, I loved the main characters and their love story. Though the book is a part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, but do so at your own risk because it may get a little confusing because of the many characters that have been introduced throughout the series. I say this because it happened to me and I don’t want it to ruin it for anyone because the actual story is so fun, hilarious, sweet, STEAMY, and such a perfect romance.
Like I said, this book was the sixth of the series and a LOT of stuff has already happened and it honestly was soooooo distracting to me and to the plot. The covennettes and their texting threads were just so jarring to me and I couldn’t really enjoy it. I also thought their constant meddling was neither helpful nor entertaining. I FOUND IT SOOOOO ANNOYING! Maybe if I had read the complete series, I would have found it fun, but I just thought, “I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED MY LOVES MORE IF NOT FOR YOU MEDDLING KIDS!!!” I have never thought it was cool to c**kblock your friends and they took it to a whole other annoying level. NOT CUTE! I just wish the author had put more time into the development of the romance and less about past characters because the romance was SO GOOD AND THE SEXUAL TENSION WAS SOOOOOOO INTENSE!
I also felt the author put soooooo many fun puns in there and so much dialogue that the plot got lost in the shuffle of it all. I just wanted more because I loved the characters so much. Ryan and Amara were the freaking cutest and their steam made me blush and get out a hand fan. Their cute scenes made me blush, but also made me laugh. I just loved following along to their story, I just wish there had been more to it! Also…. I had to wait until about 76% in to get to their high steam session and that was an annoyance, but maybe made it even hotter for me? Also I always have a very red hot soft spot for hockey players so that definitely added some juice to get me going.
Overall, this romance was a fun read, but I just wish there were more focus on the main character and less focus on characters whose stories have already been told.
