Book Review

Second Chance Scandal

I was a god on the field and a legend in the bedroom.

Football was my life; women were merely a hobby. I had no interest in settling down until…

She was supposed to be a one-night stand. Like all the rest.

Except, she was nothing like them.

Her smile.

Her laugh.

The way she made me feel…

Make no mistake, I wanted her in a way I’d never wanted any woman before. But the next morning, she just disappeared from my bed and my life, leaving me feeling empty. Only to show up unexpectedly weeks later to tell me…

She’s pregnant.

Oh, did I forget to mention she’s my coach’s daughter?

My Thoughts

I’m so grateful to get a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I loved the first book of the Second Chance series and was so excited to read another installment from the series! Jax and Sophie have such a sexy story to tell and I really enjoyed reading their journey to each other.

This segment of the Second Chance series centers around the characters, Jax and Sophie. We met Jax during the second installment of the series as Kinley’s best friend and the player we all want to hate. Sophie is his love from childhood and miscommunication and family have forced their happy relationship apart.

The story is told through Jax and Sophie’s perspective and the timeline bounced from past to present to reveal years of turmoil and heartbreak between these two characters. These characters faced so many obstacles coming from so many directions and somehow managed to come together.

Jax is a sexy fine player specimen and although I really enjoyed him I just wish there had been more banter and sass coming from him. I felt like he gave up his player and man-whoring behavior so quickly. It kinda didn’t make sense….

However, I loved to see his growth from when he was young to the present, but there were a lot of secrets from his past and I wish it was less complicated so we could focus on the relationship development of Jax and Sophie.

I loved Sophie so much; however I felt like the build up between the two of them wasn’t enough for me. I feel like she forgave him WAY too fast despite her very sassy and strong attitude in the beginning. He deserved to be in the dog house for a LOT longer.

Overall, I really enjoyed this romance story that combined some of my favorite tropes and I cannot wait until the next installment.
