The 100 Review

Summary
Due to a devastating nuclear war on Earth, humans were forced to go into space and abandon Earth and everything they knew to survive. Several centuries later, life in space is not so great so the group is hoping to get back to Earth, but they have no way of knowing if it is safe. Therefore, they decide to send a group of delinquents to test the waters, will they survive.
My Thoughts
So I watched the show and I was obsessed with it, but I didn’t like the direction it was going after the fourth season. I had no idea it was originally a book so I thought I would try the series instead. I am so glad I did because I honestly think it is so much better. According to Goodreads, this is a veryyyyy unpopular opinion, but I could care less.
The book dynamics just make so much more sense in the book and people aren’t blaming Clarke for every little thing that goes wrong. (I never understood that in the show, I felt so bad for Clarke all the time!) First of all, they actually explain the class system and the rules that they had while in space. That aspect was completely missing from the show and it made the dynamics between the 100 really confusing about who hated who and why.
Also, it also went into the fact that the 100 were experiencing very very very new obstacles and things that they never encountered before because they had never been on Earth. The show seemed to glaze over that fact and I always found that to be ridiculous. They just seemed to know what to do while in the book they didn’t which was much more plausible.
Also the characters are vastly different and I liked it. Clarke is still the same badass from the show, but I enjoyed her much more because not only is she a badass doctor, her fascination with Earth was just so cool to read about. Wells also became a much more well developed character and not just a whiny, spoiled best friend. I enjoyed getting to know him and his relationship with Clarke even though I wanted to punch him at certain points.
BELLAMY IS EVERYTHING! Ummm another reason I love this book is that Bellamy is perfect and beautiful and I want him to have my babies. Omg! He is so perfect and he is the best brother in the world. That is the one thing from the show that didn’t change and I am so happy. There were also some new characters that I enjoyed getting to know which were Luke and Glass and I loved them. Glass is a badass and I can’t wait to read more about her.
Overall, if you like the show, you should definitely give this book a try especially if you have been waiting for Bellarke and have been very disappointed with the show.
