The Spanish Love Deception

Catalina Martín, finally, not single. Her family is happy to announce that she will bring her American boyfriend to her sister’s wedding. Everyone is invited to come and witness the most magical event of the year.

That would certainly be tomorrow’s headline in the local newspaper of the small Spanish town I came from. Or the epitaph on my tombstone, seeing the turn my life had taken in the span of a phone call.

Four weeks wasn’t a lot of time to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic–from NYC and all the way to Spain–for a wedding. Let alone, someone eager to play along my charade. But that didn’t mean I was desperate enough to bring the 6’4 blue eyed pain in my ass standing before me.

Aaron Blackford. The man whose main occupation was making my blood boil had just offered himself to be my date. Right after inserting his nose in my business, calling me delusional, and calling himself my best option. See? Outrageous. Aggravating. Blood boiling. And much to my total despair, also right. Which left me with a surly and extra large dilemma in my hands. Was it worth the suffering to bring my colleague and bane of my existence as my fake boyfriend to my sister’s wedding? Or was I better off coming clean and facing the consequences of my panic induced lie?

Like my abuela would say, que dios nos pille confesados.

My Thoughts

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG THIS ROMANCE WAS SO FLIPPING GOOOOOOD!

I’ve seen so many people posting about this book and so many mixed reviews about it that I was super scared to read it. I mean it just sounded a little too good to be true that I was worried it would suffer from the hype.

I was wrong, this book is worth every page and I am absolutely in LOVVVEEEEEEEEEE.

This book made me laugh as hard as I did when I read It Happened One Summer and made me swoon just as much. However, I am glad I waited so long to read it because if I had read it when I bought it, I probably wouldn’t have liked it as much.

I finished the book in one sitting and was completely captivated by the characters and their hilarious antics and banter.

OMGGGGG THE BANTER WAS JUST GOLD.

Catalina and her rambling and bumbling were just so relatable and hilarious. I just loved her and she was just so gosh darn funny! Her comebacks were comedic GOLD and that made me laugh out loud so many times. She also brought a completely relatable and heartbreaking issue to the forefront for a contemporary romance and it made me just want to hug her. (Daniel can go suck a lemon! )

Aaron Blackstone… you sexy sexy man… have been added to my long long LONG list of book boyfriends that made my heart sing. He just… OMG. Every SINGLE thing that came out of his yummy mouth made me swoony and giddy like a junior high student at her first boy band concert.

Did I mention the banter… BECAUSE I’M GOING TO DO IT AGAIN. The BANTER! It went on and on in the best way to create the greatest sexual tension and then when the final BOW CHICA WOW WOW actually happened it was …. CHEF’S KISSSSS!

I’m in love with this book and I just wish there had been more!!!!!
