Book Review

Two for Holding

Russell Stewart is a defenseman on the Snow Pirates with only one worry in his life….his daughter. He doesn’t need any girl, but when he meets Sabrina… he just might change his mind.

My Thoughts

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review and I am so grateful for the opportunity. This book is the second book in the Snow Pirates series and follows the story of Russell and Sabrina. This book can be read as a standalone, but has characters introduced in the first installment of the series.

I really enjoyed the characters and I was happy with how it all turned out, but I was just so frustrated with some of the choices made by the characters…. ESPECIALLY ONE OF THE CHARACTERS!

I loved Sabrina and I loved her storyline. I was desperate for her to find love, but…. I honestly think she deserved better. Russell just didn’t do it for me and I usually am very into the daddy vibes. The idea of him was very perfect for Sabrina and in the first book I really enjoyed him and his banter with Lincoln, but in this book he was so much different. HE WAS A SELFISH JERK! He was just so mean to Sabrina and to a lot of people around him and it just was not cool!

Yes, there were good parts about him…. He did defend Sabrina in all aspects, but when they were alone together…. His hot and cold vibe was just a turn off for me and I was kinda rutting for Sabrina to dump his butt on more than one occasion. I just felt like Sabrina was just his punching bag all the time and she just kept coming back for more. It almost made me cringe to watch it all play out. I mean she FINALLY stood up for herself, but it just didn’t seem genuine and he didn’t really say he was sorry…..

His excuses were like armpits, all douche men have them and they all stink! I just wish there had been more redemption for him because Sabrina forgave him WAY too easily. I wanted a much grander gesture than what she got because she is such a sweet and loveable character and I was really rooting for her in the end.

Overall, I liked the idea of this book, but Russell was just not my cup of tea. I can’t wait to read the next installment which is Molly and Finn’s story…. The one I’ve been hoping for!
