My Thoughts
I was so lucky to get the ARC ebook copy for an honest review because I have discovered a series that I truly enjoy and probably wouldn’t have found. In order to give this a true review, I had to read the first installment and this. I loved the first installment so much, but this second installment took a turn I NEVER expected. It was brutal, emotional, and threw me in such a loop.
Lennox, the main character is such an amazing character and in this book she was EVEN more amazing. I mean she could be a little too trusting of people in a world that she didn’t really understand and I thought she didn’t show enough willpower when it came to Rogan. However, that girl NEVER gave up and she put out some major courage and that I could only hope to possess. Ugh she is such a sweet soul and I just love her so.
So regarding her love interest…. I DON’T WANT HIM, AT ALL!!!!! This boy has this whole broody, deep, and stupid prideful behavior and I am just not digging it. I mean that type of man is so old and tired and I thought we were done with that kind of man. GO HOME ROGAN AND LISTEN TO SOME COLDPLAY AND LEAVE MY GIRL ALONE! I honestly think Prek would be a much better love interest for her because he is so much more interesting and downright sexier than this fool. I wish my girl, Lennox, would just make better choices.
Although the romance in this book for me is lacking, the villain that this author created was GREAT! I found her to be extremely interesting and just downright crazy. It honestly made the book really interesting to me and I found it so fun to read about this certifiably insane piece of work.
The only thing I didn’t really enjoy about this book was I found the plot to be a little slow. I felt like the story dragged just a little bit too much for me. We seemed to be stuck in the same place for a little too long and I just got a wee bit bored there for a minute. However, when it picked up, I was so back in and devouring the book like chocolate cake.
The ending of this installment really threw me and left me with SO MANY QUESTIONS! Lennox’s decision to do what she did (sorry not sorry, you will find no spoilers here) broke my heart into a million pieces and it killed me. June honestly cannot come soon enough and it makes me feel like a toddler with a tantrum waiting for it.
