Sixteen-year-old Shiloh Oleson cares only about her little brother Max. When he disappears, she will do everything to find him, including risking everything and everyone…
Thank you so much to Books of Match Media, Sabertooth Press, and the author for this book in exchange for an honest review! OMG WHAT AN AMAZINGLY UNIQUE PARANORMAL THRILLER. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I found my head to almost be completely turned around like The Exorcist and desperate for the next installment!!!
This was such a crazy thriller and just what I needed for this spooky season, but be warned this thriller is ANYTHING, but predictable. There are so many different twists and turns going on around this title that you definitely need to pay attention to the little things or else you will get REAL lost!
The concept of this book combines both plot elements of a thriller with sprinkles and dollops of paranormal in between and it makes for a hair-raising good time my lovely readers. Although it might seem to be A LOT going on in one book, the author does it in a way that blends together and allows you to be both creeped out and intrigued for more. Good on you Ms. Fraise!
The book is told through a range of different perspectives, switching from Shiloh, Francesca, and Jonah.
Although most of the chapters are dedicated to Shiloh and Francesca, Jonah manages to slip his way in and into my heart… he’s my favorite character to be completely honest. I really loved all the characters in the book, but his perspective was the most mysterious and intriguing to me and you KNOW I can’t resist a bad boy.
Shiloh is such a complex character, but her perspective can be a little unreliable and unpredictable which is PERFECT for any good thriller. She is definitely hiding some things that are revealed towards the end and they shook me! Francesca is also a powerhouse of a character that adds to the paranormal elements of the plot. She is also kind of a paradox character because although her world is so dark, she is the happiest and the most optimistic one in the entire bunch!
Miles is also another character in this Scooby gang and I loved him and I wish we had gotten more into his life or the author had dedicated more chapters to his perspective because we only got to really see him through the other character’s eyes and I feel he has more going on than that.
Also something to note about this book is that although it is a young adult book, the concept and backgrounds of the characters is very dark and OH SO HEARTBREAKING. My heart broke so many times during this read which only added to my addiction to the book because I was praying that these characters would get a happy ending.
Overall this read was SO GOOD and I cannot wait for the next installment!
