When a Moth Loved a Bee
A pack of wolves hunt a girl who takes her last breath by a river’s edge.
She is found and nursed back to health by the kind-hearted Nhil people.
She has no memory.
No past.
And is given a choice that could change her forgotten life forever.
A pack of wolves adopt a man who begs for death in the grasslands.
Blood revives him. Flesh strengthens him. All while the alpha watches him as if he knows who he is.
He has no memory.
No past.
And yet… he’s drawn toward the smoke of a faraway clan.
And in that smoke, he finds a girl with the same mark on her thigh, the same empty mind, and the same forgotten language on her lips.
He’s convinced they know each other.
She’s certain they are strangers.
But the more time they spend together, the more tangled the truth becomes.
Their forgetfulness was deliberate.
To keep them apart.
To keep them lost.
To keep them from claiming their true power.
Because in that power exists a terrible choice.
A choice that could destroy the world…
…or each other.

My Thoughts
I’m going to start this book review off with a confession…. I have never read a book by Pepper Winters before. I have heard AMAZING things about this author and have a lot of her ebooks in my library, but…. I haven’t read any of them. The only thing I knew about her was that her writing was AMAZING, DARK, and POWERFUL…
Boy was everyone right.
However, I didn’t know that she wrote anything fantasy related so when this arc became available, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it.
THIS BOOK WAS FREAKING AMAZING.
IT WAS HEARTBREAKING.
IT WAS JAW DROPPING.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL.
IT IS ALSO SO FREAKING COOL.
Let me just tell you, I almost missed out on the amazingness because the beginning does drag a little. The way the author started this book out makes you feel almost as disoriented as the main character is in the beginning. Maybe that was intentional… However, I wasn’t the biggest fan of it so I put it down for a while and picked it up again after another read.
I’m glad I did because this book world is AMAZING. It is just so freaking cool and I want to learn more and more.
The book world is based on a very clan/primitive village system where every group is associated with a magic based on an element. The religion is also based on worshiping the elements and every group has a shaman like person that leads them through the teachings of the element. I thought this was so freaking interesting and I loved when the main character, Runa, starts to learn how to harness their gifts. Runa and Darro also have such cool powers. JUST SO AWESOME. I don’t know who’s power I would want more….
I also love the air of mystery to the tail with the two lovers being not aware of who they are and where they came from. The book slowly reveals the mystery bit by bit and the reveal is worth the wait. The book doesn’t reveal the complete mystery because the ending of it left me very confused still and in complete shock, but that just means I have to read the second one so I’m okay with it…
The forbidden love element was also so damn good. It has been a while since I’ve read a book with this trope, but this author does it extremely well. The push and pull of the lovers was super addicting, some might find it frustrating and repetitive, but I don’t freaking care. I liked it. It also made their sexy time all the more hot so whatever.
Overall, I really freaking loved this book and it gave me everything I need in a fantasy romance. It was long and that may deter some people, but to me it was worth it… MORE WORTH IT THAN ZODIAC ACADEMY. AT LEAST THIS SERIES WILL BE TWO BOOKS AND NOT A FREAKING LIBRARY.
